I wanted a school for my kids where they could have fun learning plenty of real-life skills. A place where enthusiastic teachers could help kids discover and become passionate about anything, developing resourcefulness, initiative, intuition, creativity, self-confidence, and soft skills. Needless to say, I couldn’t find such a place. This may be because it would require a one-to-one teacher-to-student ratio, given the complexity of real-life skills, or because there are not enough enthusiastic teachers skilled in a broad range of disciplines, or because of the risk of kids being injured, or because we lack a method for teaching kids complex skills…
At first, I considered homeschooling to educate my kids through learning, but I noticed they would become saturated after just 1-3 hours of intense learning per day. I decided to adopt a hybrid approach. They still go to school, and I tutor them after school from 3 to 6 p.m. Since they have been trained, they are not exhausted when they finish school. Instead, they are excited about doing plenty of empowering learning activities outside with their dad.
In this blog, I am sharing some of the important things I’ve learned while tutoring my kids. I believe this information could be helpful for parents who want to help their kids learn new things and for private tutors who want to teach kids effectively and increase their engagement.
